Saint Gobain Omniseal Solutions is a company in the space industry.
HTMS engineers and manufactures metal seals for launch vehicles and satellites in the presence of extreme temperatures/pressures and with very tight leakage requirements. In 2020 HTMS joined Saint Gobain Omniseal Solutions and its polymer seals (Omniseal) and materials (Rulon, Meldin & Hycomp) and can now fully support space customers.
Omniseal Solutions designs and manufactures seals and engineered polymer materials for launch vehicles, rocket engines, satellites and spacecraft. Its seals operate in cryogenic propellants, hypergolic fuels, high pressure, and applications with tight leakage limits.
The company has three seal lines. Omniseal® spring-energized seals use a PTFE-based polymer jacket with a metal spring. The RACO® version was developed for cryogenic face sealing in early U.S. space programs and has flown on the Space Shuttle, Atlas V, Delta IV Heavy, Falcon 9 and the Space Launch System. Omniseal® metal seals include C-seals, spring-energized C-seals, E-seals, V-seals, segmented designs and AS5202 metal boss seals, used where temperature, pressure or leakage requirements exceed what polymers can handle. The metal seal line came from HTMS (High Tech Metal Seals), which joined Omniseal Solutions in 2020. Omniseal® rotary lip seals cover rotating shaft applications.
Omniseal Solutions also produces Rulon® PTFE compounds, Meldin® polyimides and Hycomp® composites for bearings, wear parts and custom components.
Space applications include cryogenic tanks and feedlines for liquid oxygen, hydrogen and methane, propulsion valves, rocket engine check valves, chemical thrusters, solar arrays and sealed instrument enclosures. Engineering services cover custom seal design, material development, testing and simulation.
Outside space, Omniseal Solutions supplies aviation, life sciences, energy, hydrogen, nuclear, semiconductor and industrial customers.
