Academia

Academia in the space context encompasses educational institutions, universities, and research centers dedicated to advancing space science and technology. These institutions play a vital role in training the next generation of space scientists and engineers, conducting cutting-edge research, and collaborating with space agencies and industry partners to drive innovation in the space sector. Academic institutions often serve as hubs for the development of space-related knowledge and expertise.

  • ARIS

They engage their members in engineering challenges by integrating theory and practice. ARIS combine Inspiration for space exploration, hands-on project work and personal development.

  • Aspiration Rocket

    Aspiration Rocket is the first student-organized 3D-printed reusable self-landing hybrid rocket project and will be launched in 2023. The rocket project is focused on production in low gravity (orbits, moon and Mars) that deals with the environmentally conscious use of resources.

  • Astra eV

    Astra eV is a student organization dedicated to planning, researching and developing space technologies. Its first project is to design, build, test and launch a rocket to the Karman Line, a feat that has not yet been accomplished by a European student group.

  • Astrolight

    Astrolight is developing compact fiber-optic laser communication terminals and optical ground stations for low Earth orbit satellites. Core technologies developed by Astrolight include fiber lasers and amplifiers, FPGA-based laser beam tracking and pointing systems, FPGA-based optical modems and optical head assemblies for optical ground stations.

  • Delft Aerospace Rocket Engineering

    Delft Aerospace Rocket Engineering (DARE) is one of the most advanced amateur rocketry societies in the world. Founded in 2001, it is a group of over 200 ambitious students sharing an intense passion for rocket science. DARE designs, builds and launches rockets that serve a scientific and educational purpose.

    ESA Space Solutions Centre Ireland facilitates access to ESA programs, promotes the adoption of space solutions and supports the development of Irish companies, new and existing, in space and downstream sectors. The center incorporates the ESA Business Incubation Centre (BIC) for Ireland.
